Day 4 Olduvai Gorge and Serengeti National Park

Today we will visit the Olduvai Gorge which is one of the most important prehistoric archaeological sites on Earth.  It was here in the 1950s that Louis and Mary Leakey first uncovered the fossilized teeth and skull of one of our earliest ancestors.  After the interpretive presentation we will continue to the Serengeti National Park.  Driving time to Olduvai Gorge is approximately 2 hours, then to the Serengeti is another 3 hours

After we enter the gate entrance to the Serengeti, we will stop for a picnic lunch before proceeding on a game drive to the lodging.  The Serengeti is Tanzania’s most renowned national park.  It is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on Earth.  The migratory herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle roam widely in search of green grass and water.

Dinner and Overnight at Serengeti Wildlife Lodge

Day 5: Serengeti National Park Full Day

You will wake up early for a 4am departure for the hot air balloon safari.  After a thorough safety briefing and demonstration of boarding and landing position you board your balloon and lift off! Rising as the sun rises your balloon floats in whatever direction the winds of the day are heading over this wonderful area. It is an adventure of a lifetime. Whereas we know where we have started, we genuinely do not know where we will land as we float in the direction of and speed of the wind.

After landing, you celebrate in the traditional way with a champagne toast before heading off to a special ‘Out of Africa’ breakfast.  Breakfast is prepared in the bush and served under a convenient acacia tree. Linen, bone china, Sheffield cutlery and freshly prepared fare in the company of your fellow passengers makes a memorable finale to your adventure.

After breakfast, you are taken to the rendezvous point to meet with your driver guide and myself and have an afternoon game drive.
